When Washington State became the 7th state to recognize marriage equality, it was a historic and emotional moment. Before moving from Seattle to Atlanta, I had the honor of photographing over 100 same-sex weddings in my 35-year career. Today, I simply call it what it is—“getting married.” Love is love, and marriage is marriage. We are all equal, and I couldn’t be more thrilled about that.
While I’m not a fan of labeling a celebration as a “gay wedding,” I understand that for some, it’s an important way to find a wedding professional who openly supports equal rights. So let me be clear: I am an equal rights photographer, LGBT-friendly, and a passionate supporter of love in all its forms. I cherish weddings because they are intimate, emotional, and full of joy. Being invited to capture one of the most meaningful days in a couple’s life is a privilege I hold close to my heart. Your vows are sacred, and documenting those moments with care, respect, and artistry is my highest priority.
