Jeanne and Kim met in 1986 in San Diego where Jeanne was going to college. Kim was working running the tutoring center at Grossmont Jr. College. Jeanne played on the college softball team and Kim had a friend who also played on the team. Kim came to watch many of the games. Jeanne took a chance and asked her out and they have been together ever since. Jeanne says it was the best decision she ever made! 🙂 )
Jeanne and Kim decided to have the wedding at their home surrounded by close family and friends. When they started discussing having a ceremony, the idea of going somewhere to have it seemed too formal for us. Neither of them grew up dreaming of their “wedding day” and all the pomp and ceremony that entails. The day wasn’t really about the ceremony it was about the after party and the chance to gather and enjoy the time with family and friends. They wanted to be able to relax. The recent Supreme Court decision overturning DOMA made the day even more special and couldn’t have been better. After hearing from family everyone agreed, it was just plain fun.
Jeanne always told Kim they would take things one day at a time and 26 years later they are still together. Thanks to a very progressive state they are now legally married.
