While I have only been in Atlanta for two years, I have been spending time researching some of the favorite locations near me to shoot outside. The weather is pretty great year round. The early morning and end of day light is fantastic. While Covid-19 has us spending time at home, it is nice to know we can take advantage of the great weather to take photos. Here are a few of the locations I would recommend:
Piedmont Park
This park runs along 10th Street and Piedmont Avenue in midtown Atlanta. 404-875-PARK (7275). Piedmont Park is the quintessential Atlanta destination that often has weddings, events and concerts. There are loads of great places within the park including great skyline views as well as the dock at Lake Clara Meer. There are fields and passage ways throughout making it a nice spot to do both business and family portraits.
Bessie Branham Park
Bessie Branham Park runs along Delano Drive NE and Kirkwood Road NE. This little pocket park is nicely appointed in the Kirkwood neighborhood. Easily accessible to everyone. It has a baseball field but one side is great for some family shots.
Brownwood Park
This park runs along Brownwood Avenue SE and Emerson Street SE. Another pocket park with a playground, picnic area and plenty of spots to do family and children’s portraits.
Krog Street Tunnel and Murals
This location runs along Krog Street NE and between Wylie Street SE and Dekalb Avenue NE. Super fun iconic location with beautiful murals, street art and graffiti. It’s always changing and very colorful. A fun place to do a funkier portrait session.

In this time of social distancing, keeping everyone safe is the most important factor to consider. All portraits can be done at a distance, but it is essential to put on a longer lens.
